You don't know how much you've really missed someone until you see them again, folks. Last year, I took a hiatus from family sessions because of a tornado named Minerva (aka my daughter); then, cue COVID-19 and literally everyone is staying home as much as possible...
But oh how great the reunion will be, y'all.
Seeing this family--even though we had to stay at least six feet apart (which luckily, is possible in this line of work)--is an absolute delight. The love just emanates down the street. There's joking, there's unbidden silly faces, there's cuddling, there's squeezing--like I say at sessions: a squishy family is a happy family.
And these people--unashamedly--know how to squish. I love it.
I adore watching my families--my clients, my families, same difference--grow up, and this crew's bebes must've been eating fertilizer cuz wow, the difference a Fall or two can make is ridiculous. (By the way, don't actually eat fertilizer...can't believe I have to be this clear these days.)
And that sneaky passage of time is part of the reason I suggest having yearly photos taken--especially with kids. Each photo from each year becomes a reunion with this or that time in our lives. And even if those years have us six or more feet apart, or squishing the smiles off each other, they're all worth remembering.
After all, however we are together, it's important that we are.
