It really isn’t summer without a couple big shindigs, from my experience. Summer is the season of freedom—freedom to lick an ice cream cone on the porch, freedom to escape with the fam, freedom to peel off the layers of the cold seasons and jump into the pool. When you finish school and the on-off schedule of life blends more into the every-day work schedule, sometimes, it’s potlucks and an ice cold lemonade that remind us of that freedom. So I was more than happy to step out with my watermelon-mint salad, the hubs, and my co-workers at my day job and live a little of that Summer Night life this weekend.
A huge shout out to Charlotte who hosted and planned for weeks in advance, to her parents for coming down just for the event, to KWH for providing the meats, to everyone who brought a dish, and thank you so much to my camera-shy friends for being willing to stand for a group shot! (Those of you who couldn’t make it, we thought of you all through the baked beans and the chocolate éclair cake! ;-) Please come next time!)
