As you know if you've visited my blog, Choose your love, love your choice is my mantra at Delaney Taylor Photography; partially because the phrase led me to consider the hard work, sacrifice and struggle we choose simultaneously with the euphoria of committed love. Since beginning my freelancing as a photographer in 2014, I have met people who would cross oceans and countries for the people they love, and others who seem so caught in the idylls of love that they forget the negotiations and empathetic work that comes with a promise like marriage.

And then there are couples like Marin and Jacob. Couples who face life's unknown and known hardships head-on with a hopeful and humorous smile.

Since their wedding on July 14, Jacob and Marin have had more than their relative share of "In sickness" to "In health." In short, Marin spent the beginning of her married life with the stomach flu and not long thereafter Jacob found out he had a case of Mono! (I mean, can you think of anything worse than not being able to kiss your new husband for more than a week right after getting married?)

But those who know them know that Jacob and Marin are extraordinary people--both publicly and privately they have faced devastating hardship and led lives of grace, wisdom and faith in circumstances beyond most of their peers' imagining. However, what you will see (I believe) in their North Carolina reception photos at the charming Matthews House, is the joy and light that emanates not just from their smiles, but a heart-dwelling, deep belief in the happiness that lines the labor of love.

So, as always, though I'm probably even less qualified than usual to offer any (somewhat) unsolicited marriage advice, Marin + Jacob, I wish you all the best and the happiest years of your life, hoping that you will always...

Choose your Love, and Love Your Choice.
